Chartered accountant, CA ANZ member, qualified twenty years — across New Zealand practice, UK audit and government finance. That mix matters here more than it usually does: audit teaches you what a reviewer opens first and what makes them keep reading, practice teaches you what a small firm can realistically maintain, and public-sector finance teaches you how a regulator reads a document written to be read by a regulator.

It's also not theoretical. Accounting and bookkeeping practices are DIA-supervised the moment they do captured work — so this is a service built by someone who files one too, and the first firm it had to satisfy was ours.

How the engine works

Generated for your firm — the opposite of a template

Every paid pack is produced by our own document engine from your questionnaire answers and a sector definition. Four rules are built into it, and they are the whole product.

Your answers, not a template

DIA has warned specifically about this: section 58 requires an assessment of the risks your business actually faces, and generic template content is the most common way documents fail. That's why every document we generate is built from your questionnaire answers — your services, your customers, your channels — not a fill-in-the-blanks template.

Grounded in the source

The statutory content traces back to a grounding digest we built directly from legislation.govt.nz and dia.govt.nz. Nothing in the engine repeats a threshold, a retention period or a deadline that hasn't been checked against the source — a wrong figure in a document you sign is worse than a visible gap.

Gaps stay visible

Where a section genuinely cannot be written from your answers, the pack says so in place and tells you what's needed, rather than filling the hole with plausible prose. Anything still outstanding is set out in the covering note that comes with your pack, and again as a note in your workbook that you delete as you clear it.

Yours to approve

What you receive is a draft prepared for your review. It becomes your risk assessment and your programme when your compliance officer has read it, tested it against how the business really works, amended it and approved it. That step is not a formality — it's the part the Act cares about.

Being straight about the limits is part of the pitch, not a disclaimer bolted to the bottom of it.

→Support means help using what we've prepared — it isn't legal advice.

→If we wrote your documents, we can't also audit them — independence rules — and we'll point you to people who can.

→On the free tool, Report Pack and Compliance Pack, you file the report yourself; the attestation at the end is yours to make, as the Act intends.

→If you're genuinely not sure whether you're captured, ask us. We'll tell you straight, and we won't invoice you for a report you don't have to file.
